Most "gold" jewellery online is a thin layer of gold over a cheaper base metal (plated or vermeil). It looks the same on day one — then the coating wears off at the clasp and edges, the base metal shows through, and it can mark your skin. Ours has no coating to wear off. It's real karat gold from the surface in.
